Awesomenauts, the phenom on consoles, is now available on PC through Steam and it has brought a lot of extras to keep fans interested. Set in a faux-80′s cartoon universe, Awesomenauts brings multliplayer mayhem, eight powerful characters with new outfits and more.
2D platformers are a dying breed.
Longtime fans of the genre will make mention of a plumber, a couple of rodents and even a caveman among a myriad of other oddities that no one in their right mind would have thought of. But that is for console gamers. Now, ask a computer gamer from the times before Windows and you will receive different answers- mainly one answer: The Great Giana Sisters, which was actually based QUITE A BIT on the model that Nintendo used for Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

What I am currently picturing is Sony’s Elite Bro-Team manning the front lines in hastily-crafted Keystone Light armor arguing about who pounded the most beers last night. It’s a little extreme, I know, but the potential is there.

The Razer Naga…a mere whisper of those words and I can hear nothing but “click, click, click,” for hours as we fight together under the blue and gold Alliance banner in the name of good King Varian Wyrnn, first of his name.
It’s hard to be universally for or against the concept of rebooting old intellectual properties, be it a cover of an old song, a reimagining of a new movie (Vince Vaughn in Psycho? Fuck you.) or a reconceptualization of a video game. You can try to be a purist and cringe every time something you fell in love with in years gone by is “redone,” but there are some things out there that deserve such treatment. Particularly in gaming, some titles with classic potential go under the radar and don’t do so well. Discussing these titles is why I’m here.
Let us take a trip down memory lane:
Asura’s Wrath is an upcoming title from CyberConnect2, the studio most notable for their work on the .Hack series. My feelings about the demo are mixed. What intrigues me is that I can’t seem to label this game. It feels like equal parts God of War hack-’n-slash adventure and fast-paced side-scrolling shooter with a heaping portion of quazi-cutscenes (think Indigo Prophecy) thrown in for good measure.
