Operation: Rainfall, quite possibly one of the finest works the internet has done in a long time
It’s been a while since I went on my soapbox. I think that after 3 months it’s finally time to come back. There’s many things people who have read this website know about, one of which is that I am a HUGE Nintendo Fan. Ever since I was a child I have loved everything from Mario to Zelda, Donkey Kong to Kirby, F-Zero to Star Fox. They always made my video game experience that much more exciting. I’ve been very loyal to Nintendo even though the Gamecube years…those were tough times then…trust me…at least I had Melee to play, don’t worry, it’s not really an open letter to Nintendo, but more of a plea.
Except that our very own Thief in the night was born this day! Props to the Max! Props, I say!
Tournament Report: Friday Night Magic — Scars of Mirrodin Block Draft 6/17/2011 (Obviously this is going up late…sorry about that. Still relevant though!)
It was time once again for another Millennium games Friday Night Magic, and the presence of my friend and colleague Jared made it just as exciting as the first. I went into the event knowing that while I’d have loved to place Top 4, just winning a few matches would suffice as improvement over the thorough trouncing I was served my first time out.
My draft this time was much more solid. I stuck the tenets I discussed earlier this week and assembled a decently solid R/G Midrange beatdown deck. I had some decent removal in the form of Gut Shot, Volt Charge, Mortarpod and Tormentor Exarch, and some beef in the form of Ezuri’s Brigade, Kuldotha Ringleader and Fangren Marauder.
This week on Community Service while our fearless leader is out taking care of the alien invasion, we delve into Music Games, opinions on what brought them down, Games as Art, Comparing Games and Movies, and our Weekly Props and Slops.
Sidenote: We had to use a regular headset Mic because the equipment we usually record with was Incontrol’s and obviously, as you can hear, he was not participating.
The boys kick off their Community Service with some Summer Movies and they ask the question. “Are First Person Shooters original? Or just getting boring?
Today one of my favorite indie games received a much needed expansion, and I’m here to inform you of this wonderful gem’s existence and explain how kick-ass this upgrade is.
Having played in the Pre-Release and release events for both Scars of Mirrodin and Mirrodin Besieged, I was fairly confident that I knew everything there was to know about the format and how to draft in it, despite having no other experience with New Phyrexia than covering a Scars block Sealed Deck event last month. Apparently I’ve never played Magic before, because I was under the assumption that a single set couldn’t make that much of a difference in the way the block drafts, particularly in a block with such a unified theme as Scars.
Getting trounced at my first Friday Night Magic draft showed me the light, and I thought I’d share some of my musings. In no particular order…
So back as a wee little lad, I had such fond memories playing Duke Nukem 3D…and Now I get to be an adult playing Duke Nukem Forever…buuutttt, I get some added goodies for my troubles. Balls of Steel Edition, AWAYAYAYAYAYAY!

Always, ALWAYS. Bet on Duke
